Don’t be put off by the road it’s in – 10 mins walk to central Munich past the central railway station, tramways on the road can be heard from time to time in the room (if it faces the street) but is not bad. No car traffic to speak of. Yes, there are a couple of sex associated businesses (table top dancing, etc.) but they are mixed with supermarkets, bakeries, clothes shops, even a children’s theatre. Nobody pays any attention. There are other hotels on the road.. Panneled public and private rooms, crystal chandeliers, the look of a luxury 5* hotel but the price of 4*. Luxurious, well appointed bedrooms, particularly the Suites (with 2 sofas). It’s the little details that count: the Nespresso machine ( ticky to get to know but once over that, delivered amazing coffee),. The mini bar’s cabinet also had a micro wave, plates and cutlery. The bathroom was well stocked with the usual toiletries but for the first time, conditioner too. In the wardrobe, an ironing board & iron, as well as a safe. On the night table, a radio alarm with ipod dock. Free bottles of mineral water in classy bottles. Very comfortable bed. Very good filtered tap water. The Relaxarium with great small very hot sauna – monogrammed bath robes and slippers in the room for this. Staff friendly and helpful, very good English. Breakfast quite expensive extra (at 15 Eu) but for that you get an amazing selection. Large lift but equally easy access to stairs. The hotel is on several levels, we stayed on 1st floor. Car is parked safely in a supervised car park shared with local businesses, 13 Eu per night, payable by self on he machine or via hotel bill. In all, the hotel delivers comfort with classyness. If you like the old traditional look, this is for you. If you like young trendy hotels, this is deffenitely not.

Though the bed was very comfortable, the pillows were not, but that’s a matter of taste: they were the usual large square continental ones, way too squishy. My husband folded a large towel into a pillowcase and that worked fine. Also the room was initially too warm until we got round to use the air conditioning system. Windows can be opened but requested not to and besides, would be too loud. The maid claning the room is not the same who restocks the Nespresso- small delay.

There are already plenty of good reviews about this hotel. So, I’m not gonna say too much. I liked a lot old-style of this hotel, and was particularly impressed by the rich breakfast buffet (that is worth to be ordered, since they don’t include it in room price).

The only thing I was a bit disappointed with, it was the room size. They said that it was even less in King’s Hotel, and that’s why I chose King’s Hotel First Class, but still the rooms turned out quite small (at least in standard twin room), although it was bearable.

I liked the location – near the center of the city and the Hauptbahnhoff. The design is nice – a lot of wood, nice pictures on the walls. The breakfast space that is on the upper floor is very cosy. The breakfast itself is tasty and there is a wide variety of dishes. Freshly baked waffers and shampaigne. The hotel staff at the reception is very friendly.
    Negative:
The room was hot though the outside temperature was around 0. The room was not very big. I was bumping on the bed and wardrobe when entering the room. The dispensables in the bathroom were not replenished.
